Highland Games Dancer Resources

Each competition season, our dancers take part in regional Highland Games, and we keep a hub of helpful resources so competitors and families always know what to expect.

Competitor Information

When our studio attends a regional Highland Games, we prepare our dancers with everything they need ahead of the event: confirmed competition levels, the dances required for each level, registration details, and timing for the day. Knowing the plan in advance lets dancers focus on what matters — performing their best on the platform.

What Competitors Receive

  • Competitor lists — the running order so dancers know when they perform.
  • Studio post information — where to gather, warm up, and check in.
  • Event programs — the full schedule of dancing across the day.
  • Results & awards — placements published after each section.

We share these details with our families directly each season so nothing is left to guesswork.

Preparing for a Regional Games

The Richmond-area Highland Games and other regional gatherings are wonderful events for dancers of all levels. In the weeks beforehand, our classes shift toward competition rehearsal — running full dances, refining presentation, and building the stamina a long competition day requires. New competitors are paired with experienced dancers who know the ropes, so first-timers feel supported every step of the way.

A Family Affair

Highland Games are joyful, welcoming events for the whole family. Between dances there are pipe bands to hear, athletics to watch, and Scottish food and culture to enjoy. Many families plan their season around these gatherings and build lasting friendships along the way. To find Games and festivals across the country, the Association of Scottish Games and Festivals maintains a helpful directory.
